A consulting practice, structured like an engineering program

Thermal Synergy is consultant-driven by design: exploration before commitment, milestones before invoices, and a retainer only when the value is proven. Four phases, each one de-risking the next — and you can stop at any gate with everything you've paid for in hand.

Phase 0

Introductory call — free, no preparation required

Phase 1

Exploration — fixed-fee discovery with a quantified opportunity report

Phase 2

Calibration program — scoped, milestone-based delivery

Phase 3

Retainer — ongoing calibration stewardship

Phase 0 — Introductory call

Free. Thirty minutes. No preparation required. You tell us what you operate, what it burns, and what's bothering you — derates, fuel bills, emissions margin, trips, or just the suspicion that the machine has more in it. We tell you honestly whether calibration is likely to help, roughly what a program would look like, and what data would sharpen the answer. If we're not the right tool for your problem, we'll say so on the call and point you somewhere better.

Phase 1 — Exploration

A fixed-fee discovery engagement with a defined deliverable. This is where "probably" becomes a number. We review your fuel analyses and operating data, survey the site's control and data infrastructure (remotely or on site as scope requires), establish the performance baseline, and model what site-specific calibration can recover on your specific machines, fuel and climate.

The deliverable is an Opportunity Assessment: quantified recoverable margin with the engineering reasoning shown, a data-quality and integration plan for your control systems, the risks and constraints we found, and a fully scoped proposal — timeline, milestones and price — for the calibration program. The assessment is yours regardless of whether you continue. If exploration shows the opportunity is too small to justify a program, the report says exactly that, and you've bought certainty at discovery cost instead of project cost.

Phase 2 — Calibration program

Scoped from the exploration. Priced before it starts. Paid by milestone. The program follows our standard engineering sequence — characterize, model, calibrate, verify — with each milestone tied to a concrete deliverable: the fuel and site characterization package, the combustion model and calibration design, supervised deployment with staged rollout and rollback protection, and closed-loop validation against the Phase 1 baseline with complete data logs. Every revision ships with plain-language release notes. The program closes with an as-left documentation package and a measured, defensible before-and-after number — not a brochure claim.

Phase 3 — Calibration retainer

Ongoing stewardship, flat monthly structure. A calibration is correct for the conditions it was built on — and conditions move. Fuel composition drifts, seasons swing the air, machines degrade, OEM patches shift baselines. The retainer keeps the calibration current: continuous performance and fuel-drift monitoring, seasonal re-trims, re-validation after OEM firmware and control-system updates, degradation trending with wash/maintenance economics, quarterly performance reviews with your team, and priority engineering response when something changes at the site. Retainer clients also get first call on new capacity — which, in this market, matters.

The pricing philosophy

We don't publish rate cards — every site, fleet and scope is different, and pretending otherwise produces dishonest numbers. But the structure is fixed and public:

  • Free entry. The introductory call and initial fuel-data review cost nothing. You should never have to pay to find out whether it's worth paying.
  • Fixed-fee discovery. Exploration is a known price agreed before it starts — no open-ended billable drift.
  • Milestone-based programs. You pay for delivered, documented work products — never for time you can't see.
  • Flat retainers. Predictable monthly stewardship, scoped to the fleet, reviewed annually.
  • No hardware markups, no lock-in. We sell engineering. Every artifact — data, models, calibrations, documentation — is yours, unlocked, at every gate.

Why phase gates work in your favor

Each phase produces a standalone deliverable and a decision point. Stop after exploration and you own a rigorous engineering assessment of your fleet. Stop after the program and you own a validated, documented calibration. Nothing is held hostage, nothing is locked — the gates exist so that continuing is always a decision you make on evidence, never a sunk cost you're stuck with.
